mental health awareness
At Barwon Valley Golf Club, we are proud to support Beyond Blue and the vital work they do in promoting mental health and wellbeing across Australia. Our Blue Tree, located beside the 11th hole, serves as a powerful symbol to remind everyone that "it’s OK to not be OK" and that starting a conversation about mental health can make a real difference.
Every year, over 3 million Australians experience anxiety or depression, and around eight Australians take their own lives every day. Beyond Blue plays a critical role in providing support, resources, and hope to those who need it most.
As an individual we can all make a difference to someone else. Checking in with our friends, especially if we know they’ve been facing some issue in their life, being welcoming to new members and inclusive of those we may not know so well.
It can be helpful, if we are experiencing problems, to find someone we trust with whom we can talk. To share our thoughts can lessen the burden of carrying them alone. Most importantly, if thoughts persist, seek help through a GP, counselling or resources such as Beyond Blue and Lifeline.

At Barwon Valley Golf Club, we are proud to support Beyond Blue during Mental Health Awareness Week. 💙
Throughout the week, we’ll be hosting a series of golf competitions where funds raised will be donated directly to Beyond Blue, helping them continue their vital work supporting mental health across Australia.
We encourage everyone to wear blue during their round, start meaningful conversations, and show support for those who may be struggling.
Together, we can help break the stigma around mental health and create a stronger, more connected community — both on and off the course.
Let’s make a difference, one conversation (and one swing) at a time!
what we do
our blue tree
You may have wondered about the “blue tree” alongside the 11th hole. Our tree is registered as part of the Blue Tree Project.
Blue Trees, now standing across every continent of the world, are powerful symbols of hope - silent yet unwavering reminders that you don't have to face your mental health challenges alone
A simple, "Why is that tree blue?" sparks a conversation that can change everything.
Each Tree encourages open conversations, remind us to check in on ourselves, and stands as visual prompts to support those who may be struggling.
Be part of our Blue Tree Gallery by taking a team or individual photo in front of the tree.
